Tasked with creating an infographic that explains a process, this infographic explores how the English language evolved and became what it is today, stemming from my interest in linguistics and history. Drawing inspiration from the nature associations when speaking about languages (language tree, linguistic roots, etc.), the imagery of tree growth rings was chosen to visually communicate this association. Starting at the centre, each ring represents roughly 100 years, and starts as a perfect circle, with each major change to the language adding a scar or protrusion to the ring, changing and evolving the shape as we reach the outermost rings/modern times.
